CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the Taihape Chamber of Commerce was held last night, when there were present: Messrs J. R. Cunninghame (chair), F. M. Marlow, E. Loader, R. A. Davies, A. Gifford, H. D. Bond, and the secretary. '"?
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. . Correspondence outward was ap proved and . inward dealt with as follows:
From Eangitikei County Council re .proposed new hospital district, stating that letter had been considered, and asking for information re proposed boundaries. —County Council asked to appoint representative to attend a conference, re boundaries.
From W. S. Glenn, M.P., re .overhead railway footbridge, and from Prime Minister, per Mr Glenn, ro same matter, advising that a report on the proposed extension was being obtained from the responsible railway officers and that a further reply would be sent later. —Received. , .
From Secretary of Associatea* Chambers of Commerce, advising that r<!mit had arrived too late for inclusion in main agenda for conference. — From ' Postmaster, advisin that Chamber's representations with reference to parcel delivery had been re ferred to the proper authority.—Received.
From District Railway Engineer re Chamber's recommendation that loading bank in goods yard should be extended. The Engineer advised that the bank was too low. and. had now been raised. —Resolved that the matter of having the bank extended be again represented,, it being the general opinion that the bank was not long enouh to permit of the easy loading of motor cars, agricultural machinery, etc.
From same/ advising that additional protection for children would be provided on overhead railway bridges.— Received. From same, advising that overhead railway footbridge could only be ' extended at the cost, of those making the request.—Received.
The chairman reported that with re ? gard to the proposed new hospital district, the Rangitikei County Council had been ashed to appoint a delegate, and the Taihape Borough Council had appointed a delegate at its last meeting, to consider the question of boundaries. It was also announced that the public slot telephone which the Chamber had been advocating had arrived and would be installed shortly. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
