THE ROTORUA LAKES,
ROTORUA, Nov. 15. A large meeting of natives was he!cr at Te Awahou on Thursday to discuss the questoin of the purchase of the inland *lakes by the Government and other matters. A telegram was read from the Hon. A. T. Ngata sayi-g that Sir Francis Bell and Sir Wm. Herr Jes would visit Rotorua on December 11 to confer with the Arawas re the settlement of the lake question by negotiation. INFLUX OF ASIATICS. PROTEST BY M$ VEITCH. WANGANUI. This day. \ . Mr Veitch, member for Wanganui, received a cable from Suva yesterday, stating, that about 140 Indians had arrived there, and were contemplating departure for Auckland at the first oppotunity. Mr Veitch has telegraphed to the Minister of. Immigration, strongly recommending imminent action to prevent Indians from coming to New Zealand.
