TAIHAPE PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the committee of the above society was held in the nurses' room at the Town Hall, on Friday, November 5. Present: Mesdames de LatOlir (chair), Gardner, Little, Emerson, Matthews, Somerville, Nathan, McCormick and the secretary. Apologies were received from Mesuames Gibbs, Henricks and Gifford. The minutes of the previous meetread and confirmed and correspondence discussed. Amongst the correspondence was a letter from the secretary of the Central Council in Dunedin, with reference to the shortage of Blanket nurses, and asking this branch to do all in its er to help in this connection, by endeavouring to obtain suitable nurses to take Plunket training with a view to taking up the work.

There was also a letter from Mrs. Stevenson in Wanganui, enclosing an. invitation to any member of the society w T ho would care to go to a garden fete in aid of the Stuart Karitane Hospital in that town on Saturday, November 18. It is to be hoped that quite a number of members will take advantage of this invitation, and that Taihape will be well represented at this function. Nurse Mcßride reported that there are 162 babies on the hooks, and It new cases during the month. Visits • paid to homes during the month totalled 109, while there were 99 visitors to the offices. All moneys from the recent street • sale have now come to hand, and it is gratifying to note thnt the total is £57 2s 6d. The coimpitt.ee wishes to thank Mr. Shutc for having kindly given them the use of fiis shop free of charge.
