MEAT FLOUR WORKS FOR RANG AT AU A.
Correspondence has passed between Mr Seth-Smith and the representative ! of the Australasian Trade Expansion ! Company in connection with the above project. The process is a new one and analysts like Professor F. P. Worley (of Auckland University) has pronounced favourably on samples of meat powder sent to him; It is proposed to erect works at Mr Rcmus's property at Rangatua. The latter gentleman is the inventor., It is claimed fhat this process for the preservation of meat is going to revolutionise the frozen meat industry throughout New Zealand. The A.T.E. Co. hold the sole option over New Zealand and also the World's rights to this process for converting meat into meat flour—or powder as some call it. It is claimed for this new product
that it has remarkable keeping qualities under trying conditions; that it is of great convenience and affords a saving of' time and firing in general ! household cooking. In the matter of I cost it is said to be at least one-third I below that of other concentrated J meat products. The Company intend erecting works, about ,a- mile from the I station on a line of steel rails connecting with the main line. Electric light and power will be derived from
the Mangatike stream. Fuel for generating steam will be obtained off Mr Remus' property. In ( a district such as this, there ought to be good scope for the operations, of the Company. The new product is not be be confused with extract of meat or similar products. It is on the same principle as. dried milk, and in the household is said to fill the hiatus admirably when fresh meat is not obtainable., The Company will have a capital of £IOO,000 (nominal), 50,000 reserve shares., 10,000 vendors and option holders shares, 40,000 public shares.—Ohakune Times.
