LOAN FOR SOLDIER SETTLEMENT.
There is but compelling reason why every citizen of New.. Zealand should contribute to the war- loan, pros* pectus particulars' of Nvflich. appeared in Saturday's , issue, ; and that one is undeniable. Were it .not for the men who won the great Avar, New Zealandcrs would have had no land to settle. Now that the men from this Dominion have returned, .after -making a name that is worid-widely honourable, it is a duty whieh the State cannot neglect to get them back into civil life again. Very many of ihe men, before going away, werle 'compelled to sell their farms, and when they came back they found land too -dear for the means at their disposal to purchase. What these men are unable to do for themselves the State must do for them; and as the State can do nothing without the money necessary, ft is equally the duty of men who have it'to lend, the money to the Government, . not for nothing, but at a very fair rate of interest. Six millions are wanted for the purpose of soldier settlement, and if there is a spark of gratitude pervading'those who have accumulated money, particularly during the war, that sum will easily be raised, and unofheT six millions with it. Prospective contributors should lose no time m making themselves thoroughly acquainted with the details of this important, pressing subject, as the time for closing is-on the 25th of the present month..
