FITZGERALD'S FUNERAL,
EXTRAORDINARY ACTION
LONDON, Oct. 20.
j At the celebration of a., requiem moss for| thej hunger striker pitzgerald, who died in Cork prison, a military officer with "a drawn revolver*" at the head of a file of armed soldiers approached the altar and warned the canon that nfore than l6'o persons would not be allowed to- follow tne coffin to the grave. Later, the officer, j speaking through a megaphone, told the crowd that he had instructions to fire if the order were disobeyed. He intended to use force if necessary. The crowd complied with the order.
MR McSWEENEY DELIRIOUS. HIS RELATIVES SUMMONED. LONDON, "Oct. 20. Mr McSweeney suffered a delirious attack lasting over two hours, and Ms relatives were summoned. He Is now reported to be quieter. DOCTORS FORCIBLY ADMINISTERING LIMEJUICE. LONDON, Oct. 20. It is ■ reported that doctors are forcibly administering lime juice to McSweeney owing to scurvy symptoms. Sir Hamar Greenwood, in ithe House of Commons, said he did not confirm or deny that he said doctors would be justified in doing so in order to give McSweeney another chance. • They were actuated by motives of mercy. The Daily Chronicle sttaes that during a brief spell of unconsciousness, doctors, fed McSweeney with beef essence and brandy. When McSweeney recovered consciousness, he protestea that he had been tricked, and refused further feeding. \, <.*<
