I THE SOUTHERN VOTE. | i Reserved 9.15 a.m. | WASHINGTON, Oct 20. j Traditionally, the .Southern States have always been Democratic—at (least since the CMI War. The negro 1 vote in the South was for the larger part, suppressed through the State | laws making the voting qualification high. The enfranchisement of Women, however, has brought hope among the Republicans that the negro votes will perhaps separate some Southern State from the Democrats; especially those States bordering on what is known as the Solid South: namely, Kentucky, West Virginia, Missouri, etc. Mr George White, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, declares that these border States will surely remain Democratic adding that Ohio" will go for Cox. Observers declare that it is hardly probable that the Republicans will be able to obtain any Southern States. It is pointed out that successful measures have been taken to keep the negro women’s vote small by enforcing high qualifications
