LABOUR OTPPOSED TO HARDING

Mr Gompers, in a statement, said America would pass through rour years' reaction if Mr Harding were elected President. Mr Harding had not taken a stand for progress on any one of the great issues.
A REPUBLICAN SPLIT.
NEW YORK, Oct. 18
Olio hundred and twenty-one prominent Republicans have announced that they wi"l vote for Mr Cox because Mr Harding' repudiates the best traditions of the Republican Party. This is due to his stand regarding the League. According to a Chicago telegram, Mr Will Hays, chairman of the Republican National Committee, predicted that Mr TTarding will win the Northern and Western States an<j a considerable number of the Southern States, which since the Civil War have been notably democratic. Mr Harding will probably receive between 378 and 295 electoral votes of the 531 total The American votjng system provides for citizens in each State voting for a college of. electors, which in turn choose© the successful candidate'"
