L_o LADIES’ GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP, WELLINGTON This day.
Mrs. Martin, of Palmerston North, won the principal ladies’ golf championship, boating Mrs. Guy Williams, of Masterton, three up and one to play. The winner is a recent arrival from Scotland.
SURPLUS MESS FUNDS

When the New Zealand Depot at Codford was closed down, funds in hand from the various messes amounted to £llOO. The disposal of the sum was left to a committee or
eight sergeants, who have met in New Zealand and decided to distribute vhe money among the totally blind soldiers, the number of whom is estimated at twenty-five; so that each will receive some forty pounds.
SUPREME COURT SENTENCES
WELLINGTON, This day
At the Supreme Court to-day, Sir John Salmond, sentenced ten prisoners as follows; —Horace Charles Harman and Raymond Frank . Barry, breaking and entering and theft at Taihape, two years each; Frank Lautoa, theft of benzine at Poxton, to six months’ hard labour; Prank Ethelbcrt Oakes forgery and uttering (five charges), to six months; Norman McLeod Gunn, four charges of forgery, at Napier, to twelve months hard; Geo. Pilcher, theft at Dannevirke, to nine months; Randolph Arthur Page, breaking and entering and theft at New Plymouth to two years’ reformative treatment; Robert Geo. Neill, breaking and entering arid theft at Otaki, to three years,’ reformative treatment.
