THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
BRITAIN AND-FRANCE, MR. LLOYD GEORGE EXPLAINS. LONDON, October 9. In .tie course" of a speech at Carnarvon, Mr. Lloyd Geodrge_ said: The difference between Britain and France regarding the Geneva Conference is that Britain favours an Allied council to discuss with German delegates the indemnity proposals, .but France is unwilling to meet the German delegates on an equality. France also desires to limit the proceedings at Geneva to a meeting of financial exports - from the Allied reparation commission to draw up a preliminary plan regarding the indemnity for submission to the respective Allied Governments. ' The British method would accelerate settlement of the indemnity problem. ARGENTINE’S REPRESENTATION BUENOS AYRES, October 9. Senor Puoyrredon, Foreign Minister, and the delegation which sailed to attend the Geneva Conference of the League of Nations promised the Senate - that any engagements of Argon-' tine contracts will be subject to approval of the Argentine Congress. President Irigoyon had not consulted the Senate regarding Argentine’s adihesion to the League of Nations. The Senate resented .this, and Ithe only conditions on which it would agree to Puoyrredon’s appointment was that it should be consulted concerning future engagements.
