The crews of all Italian steamers in Buenos Ayres have struck, protesting against the recent action; of the Italian Government in arresting the seamen who seized a Russian 'vessel at anchorage i«j Genoa. The stevedores went out in sympathy with the strikers refusing to unload Italian steam- i ers. j AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT | TROUBLE. i i j OBJECTION TO' EMPLOYMENT BUREAU. Received 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, This Day. Representatives oT the Transport Unions, including the coalminers, met at the Trades Hai’l and deliberated in camera. It is understood they arc strongly objecting to the Wat-, erside Employment Bureau. Mr. Wheeler, the Secretary, subsequently hinted that the meeting had decided on a course of action which will seriously imperil the marine transportation of the Commonwealth. BRITISH MINING CRISIS. MAJORITY OP MINERS RESUME. LONDON, October 5. A majority of the miners are back at work after a day’s protest strike. The fact of the executive advising the men to reject the datum line is not surprising, as it is- largely in the hands of the younger extreme ale-* ment. It is still believed a majority of the fields will favour a settlement, with the exception of South Wales.
