Four years ago Tievost was sentenced to 20 pears' penal servitude, but while being taken to the He dc Re, the penal settlement off the west coast, he escaped in Tours station, and la' er. adopting the name of Boulerne, established himself at Orleans, where ho became a successful merchant and ! made a lot of money. He became an elector, and although arrested some time ago his papers j were so well in order that he was im- j mediately released. His arrest after came as a great surprise to people who knew him only as a prosperous merchant.
