The National Citizen’s Council, ' •which is in charge of the local veto campaign in Scotland, profegses to be qui+e satisfied regarding the results of propaganda, particularly the fact that polls are assured in all important centres of the country, percentages of voters varying from the requisite ten to fifty per cent. Scots newspapers are flooded with advertisements and correspondence. The local veto poll takes place on the same day as the Scots municipal elections, which would ensure a large poll. The licensed trade asserts that the prohibition campaign will receive a rude stock. JEWS IN HUNGARY. .. DRASTIC REPRESSION. BUDAPEST, Sept. 27. The Hungarian National Assembly passed drastic anti-Jewish legislation, (providing that only a limited number Of Jews may be admitted to the universities, and referring to Jews as being a separate nationality. In the course of the debate }he Minister of Education declared that it was intended to drive the Jews' into the Zionist camp. The correspondent says that I the bill appears to be a distinct breach of the peace treaty, but is apparently only a prelude to a more sweeping anti-Jewish poEcy.
