CARNIVAL.

PLAIN AND FANCY DEESS. Taihape is to have one of the most successful Skating Carnivals yet held here. The hall will be splendidly decorated and the floor is in perfect condition for good skating. Special seating accommodation has been provided. A grand programme has been prepared for the two nights. Thursday evening will be devoted mostly to judging costumes, and graceful, and fancy skating. The big event oh Thursday evening is the championship race, and as visitors from other centres are coming here especially for this event a great race should result. Friday evening’s programme offers a night of big things, full of fun and good skating. The programe will include backward racing, blindfold race, potato race, and handicap races for ladies and gentlemen. The two big events of the carnival are the ladies’ championship race (which is going to bo a big surprise for Taihape skaters, and will be the most exciting ev-mt. of the carnival) and the men’s tug-of-war on-’skates; a great and novel event which will create great excitement. All skaters must reserve their skates. No skates will be kept after 8 p.m. Doors will be opened at 7.30. Masks to be worn until 8.30. Prices for admission are: Gents 2/6, ladies 2/-, spectators 1/-. Seats can be reserved. i
