RAILWAY GRIEVANCES.
NEGOTIATIONS BROKEN OFF.
AUCKLAND, Sept. 72.
A leading officer of the E.F.C.A. stated this morning that negotiations betrveen this railway association and the Prime Minister had been broken off. In the meantime the association is marking time, with its grievances still in existence. The Auckland branch of the E.F.C.A. met yesterday,, when the report of Mr. R. Carroll, who attended the conference in Welling*on, was received and discussed.
MORE IMMIGRANTS ARRIVE.
WELLINGTON, Sept. 27
The steamer Corinthic, which arrived from London via Panama early today. brought <SOO immigrants.
TOBACCO PRICES INCREASED,

MELBOURNE, This Day
The Fair Profits Commission granted. an application by the Tobacco Companies to increase the prices of tobacco and cigarettes by a half-penny per ounce . Th§ :; ‘ Commission also sanctioned an increase of 1/6 in the price of kerosene.
