The extent of the injuries is not yet known. Tait, who came to Auckland from Wellington on business. is a married man.
Steady rain set in in Canterbury shortly after noon on Tuesday, and continued without Intermission , till 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday, a fall of nearly 21 inches being recorded in the city and more in the country. All rivers are running high, and creeks on the Peninsula and elsewhere are in flood. It is reported that a large number of lambs have been lost.
