THE CHILDREN 'S BALL.
A great Success
The Town Hall was packed last night, when the sixth annual ball under the auspices of the Taihape District High School was held. The committee yhich had charge of the decorations did their work thoroughly, and She ladies’ committee which had charge of the supper arrangements left nothing whatever to be desired. The number of children who participated was in the vicinity of 200, the majority of whom were in fancy dress. Many of the costumes were unique and attractive, and in such a large gathering one would expect to find a number of duplications of fancy dresses; but the remarkable fact is that no two were dressed alike. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, : and the carnival spirit prevailed throughout. They participated in the dances with great good humour and cheerfulness, and- their splendid evenings enjoyment culminated with the excellent supper to tlm 'preparation of which the ladies committee had clevoied somuih care and attention. The ball was probably the most enjoyable' which has yet been provided for • the ' children, and was thoroughly appreciated by them as such. After the children had danced until they were tired, the adults took the floor, and the ball went on till a late hour. The success of the function was undoubtedly due to the energetic efforts of the committees, to the musicans, and to those who super-, vised the dances for the children.
