CONFERECE AT FEILDING. ! A conference representing the sur- : rounding local bodies was held at ! Feilding on Friday, afternon to dis- ! cuss hydro-electric matters. Delegates were present from the Oroua, Pohangina, Manawatu, Kiwitea, and Rangi- ! tikei County Councils and the Taihape, j Marton, and Feilding Borough Councils. In opening the proceedings, the chairman, Mr. G. J. Harford, Mayor of Feilding, fljaidi !hat it was proposed to form a Power Board and buy electricity in bulk and distribute it to the Board's consumers. The Mangahao scheme, it was stated, would be : in operation in about three years, bufc a scheme was being prepared for Wanganui, and. he was not sure that it would not be ready before the Mangahao scheme. In afiy ease it would pay to link up with the Wanganui scheme. It was suggested that the area to be included ia the Powei* Board should include the whole of the Oroua, Kitwitea, and Manawatu Counties, and the lower parts of the Pohangina and Kairanga Counties. Mr. EH. Crabb, president of the Mangahao Hydro-Electric Development League, who was present, said that Burinythorpewas not going to be a distributing centre, but the point at which lines from the Three big schemes, Mangahao. Arapuni, and Wafta,remoana, would meet. After delegates had expressed their views as to the likely boundaries of the Power Board, it was decided to adjourn the meeting till the 23rd inst. Mr. Rinks, the Government Engineer, is to be invited to address the conference and to explain his proposal re boundaries of Power Board*.
