GIRL WHO CHANGED HER MIND.
One of the passengers on the Calonia, when it reached Liverpool recently, was Miss Butler, the pretty young Manchester typist, who, because she "changed Iter mind" about her Damage, had been refused admission to land in America.
A few weeks ago she sailed for Canada to be married to Captain T. H. Kitchen, who had served in the" Canadian Artillery- During the voyage she met a British officer, Captain Mellor, and became engaged to him. On reaching Halifax (N.C.) the immigration authorities refused to allow her to land because she had originally declared that her intention in visiting Canada was to marry Captain Kitchen.
At New York the officials were aqually obdurate, so that Miss Butler had to .return to England, Captain Kitchen paying her passage home!
When seen at Liverpool she remarked: "It is disgusting that all, this fussshould be made; it's ridiculous." "I supose you've been returned ber:\ufie you changed your mind?" she was ashed, and replied, "I suppose so.'' As to her futu,re plans, Miss Butler, ■who read a number of telegrams on landing, refused to divulge anything, merely remarking, "It's all a whirl." She was then met by members of licr family, and later travelled back to Manchester.
