BRUSSELS AS A PORT.
We all know that Belgium is working with wonderful energy to rebuild' her shattered industries, and that in this direction she is making more headway than any other of the late belligerents. But I have not noticed many allusions to the astounding growth of Belgian maritime interests
jji the past year, writes The Clubman in the "Pall Mail Gazette." Among the many schemes now in train to foster those interests the most conspicuous is the development of Brussels as a port, connected with the sea by a ship canal navigable by large ocean-going vessels. As for Antwerp, the latest figures show that port to have practically recovered from the shock of war as far as the shipping industry is concerned. During June the amount of shipping that entered Antwerp was 1,039,054 tons, which is only one thousand tons less than the total for June, 1914.
