DEATH FROM BURNS. WELLINGTON, This Day. The ten-year-old daughter of Mrs. E. G. Zohrab died yesterday at Heretaunga as the result of burns received through her dress catching fire Tom ithe flame of. a candle which she was carrying. A DOUBLE TRAGEDY. MURDER AND SUICIDEMASTERTON: This Day. A double tragedy occurred some
ytime yesterday at Fernside, near Mas.terton, whereby a little child! was murjdered and the murderer subsequently commit.ed suicide. It appeared that the child, three years’, old, the son of Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie, was fiast seen by his brother after lunch yes:erday, when he went out to a paddock in which a youvh on the farm named Edward Hay was working. Hay later returned to the house without the child. Hay was then sent to look for the child, bu: he came back again without the boy. A short time afterwards Hay disappeared, taking with him a gun belonging fo McKenzie. A search was at once instituted for the missing child and Hay, and' to-day the child was found dead, having apparently been struck ion the head with an axe. The body of Hay was also found to-day with a gunshot wound through the head.
