TAIHAPE FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

A meeting of the delegates of the various local Friendly Societies was held last night, when there were present:—Messrs. J. Bartosh (chair), H. Strong, D. Woodheaclj F. Ward, E. Howden and E. Lenihan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The tender of Mr. W. H. Fookes for the supp'y of medicines according to prescription, and including prescribed patent medicines, etc., was accepted. The agreement to be drawn up between the chemist and the various Lodges was left in the hands of the secretary. It was decided that .a Friendly Societies Council be formed, subject to the approval of the various lodges, as two of the societies had not yet discussed the proposal. It was decided that, the next meeting be held on Monday, 4th October, when the proposed formation of the Counci 1 will be discussed by the delegates.
