BOXING.
HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. MISKE KNOCKED OUT. NEW YORK. Sept. 6. At Benton Harbour to-day, Jack Dempsey. champion heavyweight boxer of the- world, defeated Billy" Miske, the German-American challenger for the title, knocking him out in the third round. •- In the opening round Miske was the first to score, hooking a left to the head He danced round his opponent looking for another opening, buT Dempsey retaliated by landing righf and left to the head, following tinsup with two rights to the head. The round ended with an exchange of body punches. In the second round the parr rushed to a clinch. Dempsey landed a left hook on the break, and immediately after floored Miske with a right Miske rising at five. In round three Dempsey danced around and hooked the right hard to the body, Miske landed a left, to the jaw, and then Dempsey swung his right, knocking Miske down. As Miske climbed up Dempsey swung his right to the chin in a knock-out blow" which ended the fight.
