The following areas of land are available for selection 'by ballot by discharged soldiers^ Taranaki. —Twenty-seven sections, Parihaka Settlement, exempt from rent for one year and two years. Twelve sections, Taitama and Ratapiko Settlements. Auckland. —Seven sections. Pon-a- | Kani Block (Taupo district), 1307 acres tn 2872 acres at less than £1 per acre. Pour sections Hurukai S.D., and twenty-one sections in Ongarue S.D., mostly bush land, at about £2 per acre. Four sections National endowment in Raglan, Opotiki, and Ohine■innri Counties. Four sections Tanranga County, Katikati S,D. Plans may be seen at the office of the Taihape and District Returned Sol■diers’ Association after 3 p.m. each •day.
The steamer Abadesa, which arrive." at Wanganui on Sunday from Sydney direct, loads sixfy-one thousand carcases of mutton, and five thousand box£s of butter, one of the largest loads lifted from tho port.
