S. The Queen’s Club withdrawals from the athletic team at the last moment, included the American, Paddock, owing to illness; also A. G. Hill the British Olmypic representative who was disabled. Hunt of Australia,, was on the programme, but was re-' placed by the Air Force champion Sergeant-Major Mawby. Olsterlaak, of South Africa, wa s pitted against Kerksey of America. In the opening stage of the halfmile relay race South Africa led throughout, securing an advantage which all the subsequent efforts of the Americans vainly endeavoured to -’destroy. Other Englishmen were Butler, Mawby, and the New Zealander Davidson. The last-named shot home six yards aheq.fi. Thompson won the 120 yards hurdles by 15 yards. The New Zealander Wilson, did not compete. Rudd was first in the two miles relay race. The time was 7min. 53 !-»• sec. This was a great race. Mountain, of England, gave Rudd Baton thirty yards to the goorl. Rudd, raced away from Scott (America) as he liked and won by twenty-five yards..
