BROKEN HILL STRIKE. MEN STILL DISSATISFIED. Received 10 a.m. SYDNEY, This day. An interim report by Judge Eds munds on the Broken Hill dispute rejects the miners claims and provides for a forty-eight hours week above ground and forty-four hours below. The report recommends the continuance of the contract system. The night-shift miners claimed a thirty-six hour week and £1 per day. They are dissatisfied with the report but will make no comment. BRITISH COAL TROUBLE. STRONG ELEMENTS AGAINST A STRIKED LONDON, Aug. 30. Though a two-thirds majority is certain, the fact that the Yorkshire miners only by a narrow majority favour a strike and Nottingham is adverse, greatly strengthens the bands of those working for peace. Yorkshire polled 58,530 votes in favour of a strike and 55,979 against, showing that a large majority of the . elder men are solidly against another strike after the previous disastrous experience.
