HUIAS V. PIRATES. SATURDAY'S GAME TO BE REPLAYED. At the meeting of the Taihapa Rugby Sub-Union last night, an application from the Huia Football Club to have Saturday's game re-played was considered. The application was made on the ground that the Pirates Club played a man, namely Geange, who had not been registered with, the Union seven clear days pnor to the match. It was shown that Geange had previously been reghs^.-r.l b'l 4 : that his registration had been ca.ijeilei! to admit another player. Th« legist ration was renewed for Saturday's game but it was claimed that the registration was illegal, as the application was lodged only, five clear days prior to the match.
The protest was npieiu, the Union considering that the Pirates had infringed the rules by playing an unregistered man, and * ne decision was that the game should oe replayed. In connection with the nbove, it may be mentioned that, when there was a proposal to form a new club at' the start of the season, the Union adopted a resolution that the number of registered players in each club be limited to nineteen. The resolution has remained in force though the third club was not formed; and the position created is that both clubs often find it expedient to canjel a re gistration and then register another player when the first man is not available. In this case, the Pirates Club followed the practice, b.it made the application for registration too late.
