THE NEW DISTRICT SCHEME

At the annual district R.S.A. conference at Pulmerston "North, the general organisation committee brought down a report as regards the tution of the Wellington District N.Z. U.S.A. For the purpose of organisation, the district was divided into the following groups:—(l) Palmerston N. and Levin; (2) Wellington; (3) Masterton, Woodville, Dannevirke, Pahfatua (when affiliated); (4) Waipawa, Waipulcurau, Hastings, Napier, and Wairoa; (5) Feilding, Marton, Taihape, Taumanuiui; (6) Wanganui, Waverley; (7) Stratford. New Plymouth, Hawera. Waitara; (8> GisGisborne. It was recommended that the district conference should consist of delegates appointed by the local associations affiliated to the N ! Z # R.S.A. Each, local association would

have voting power on the conference J on the folic wing basis; one vote for each 400 financial members or part thereof; one delegate for every 1000 financial members or portion thereof, but no association to be . entitled to m'cre than three delegates. The district conference would* be held in May each year. At this conference delegates should be re-elected to the Dominion conference. The ' officers were elected as follows: —President. Mr B. J. Jacobs; vice-president, Mr H. B. Burdekin; hon. treasurer, Mr P. Cook; committee, Mr H. M, Haycock (Group 1), Mr R. J. P. Aldridge (Group) 2), Mr J. F. A. Hebenton (Group 3). Mr A. F. Ford (Group 4), Mr E. Lenihan (Group 5)), Mr G. Beckett (Group 6). Mr C. Gometf Group 7), Mr H. Bullard (Group 8); district secretary, Mr N Nielsen.

BRITISH SETTLEMENT SCHEME. j * FARMS FOR SOLDIERS. 1 ' A return of land settlement which has been issued by the British Ministry for Agriculture shows that the total number of applications received ; from the ex-service men in England and Wales was 36,831, for 639,023 acres; 781 S men were awaiting interviewers or standing over, and 15,501'had bee n approved but not provided with holdings. Ex-service men and civilians provided with holdings since j December 18, 1918, numbered 7133, the acreage being 105,305. The total 'acreage acquired for small holdings with the Minister's approval since that date was 198,751.
