HOCKEY

ROVERS v. PAKEHA. On the Recreation Ground yesterday a good game between Rovers and Pakeha was well contested. In the first half, honours ' were fairly even, and each side managed to scone two goals. In the second half, the Pakchas had the best of the garSe, but only succeeded in adding' another goal. The yellow backs were at their best and their defensive work was particularly fine throughout. The reams showed better combination than the Reds, and thoroughlydeserved their win by three goals to two. Had it "not been for the sound'defensive play of Flee!, the winners would have put up a bigger score.
