EASTERN TROUBLES.
MESOPOTAMIAN REBELS. STREET RIOTS IN BAGDAD. MILITARY SWEEP THE TOWN. DELHI, Aug. 16. The authorities at Bagdad sent parties to the homes of a number of extremists who were blamed for the recent trouble on the Euphrates and for a flood of propaganda, The police failed to effect arrests owing to the action of crowds, who also fired on reserves lending'the police assistance. Eventually nine men were arrested. The rioters lost six men killed and twelve wounded.
Later, a company of the Bhopal Infantry arrived, and swept the town from end to end.
No furthejr disturbances occurred,, and the town is now quiet. The military are taking precautions against further outbreaks. Bagdad advices state that the situation on the 15th inst. BeTween Hillah and Bagdad had improved. Our forces occupied Museyio on the 14th, and the Hindiyah barrage on the 15th, thus restoring the situation in this area. There is no news from Mosul owing to a telegraphic breakdown.
