FOREIGN PERNICIOUS INFLUENCE.
i . The majority éf British people do [not take kindly to having the worst ‘features in Alien countries forced up{on them by Alien propagandists. When they find they have been ‘hooduwinked into believing foreign stuff a resentment is invoked which in most cases discovers Dracticable outlet. fiThe pernicious features of Alien ‘treachery is Just. now having :1 reacting effect upon Australians, the visible and tangible result being the formation of a National Alliance with the avowed object to comb”a't and (lis-cc-untenance disloyalty to the Empire, and to keep Australia and the Aus‘tralian nationa.l life free from those mischievous, noxious foreign doctrines iwhich are calculated to impair the irrational spirit. interfere with and oblstruct Australia’s duty to the Empire. iThe, new Organisation has been formlally launched, known as the “King [and Empire 'Alliance.f,-’ A constitution has been. adopted and a strong executive has been aappointtecl, at least. Such is the intelligence conveyed in a cable message from Australia yesterday. Every loyal person in {this Dominion will wish that maximum possible success will reward the efforts of those who have sefithe antitraitor ball rolling_ There are :3. few men in New Zealand who have fastened on to the labouring classes, stepped in between labour and the men who have toiled through the heat of the labour battle, carryingmany of the enemy’s strongest citadels. Those interlopers Have ‘rushed into the conimand of labour forces and have done Some good work,.but they have left no mistake in the minds of those workers who think about the real object -of their activities. They have left little doubt about the kind of battle they are striving to precipitate. New Zealand workers want no revolution, for they gain all they desire if they can adopt such measures as will compel Parliament to legislate an election ballot that can only result in majority rule. We are of opinion that ‘Pariament is stirring up a resentment that is Dominion-wide by refusing to scrap the old minority rule system. Much talk is made about British fair play—pla.ying the game, and suchlike, but what is the example set by Parr-liament? The people that may be for King and Empire to-day may be for something totally different tomorrow it' the constant irritation of /an unjust ballot system is persisted lin. In any case, New ‘Zealand might’ follow Australia's lead in launching a “King and Empire Alliance,”"'for then money might be available.for employing King and Empire lecturers and educators. At the present time everybody in this Dominion seems to be too busy to trouble about King and Empire, or about whether propaganda of pernicious‘ doctrines from the worst in Alien countries is left to‘do its very worst amongst: the masses lot New Zealand people. ..
