XVAIRAU HOSPITAL BUR-NED.
BLENHEIM, Au gust 12.
At an early "hour «his nrorning an alarzn oflfiro was given by the watchman. at Wairau Hospital, he having discovered an 0-u»t.bre:lk in the roof of the laundry and engine-room. The hospital was a large up-to-date new building, but no fire fighting apparatus. was available. The stuff saved what was mov-able, and the building was completely gutted. The machinery included an elecfr,ic plant which was badly dam» aged. The. cause of the fire is a. mysfory.‘ The illsul=ances are £4500 in -the Royal Exchange on the ‘buildings and pl-um} valued Ext £9OOO.
