An Australian Pré‘s"s Association representative interviewed Dr Mannix, who declared: “Some people want me to say things about Hughes, but the latter will get his best answer from the Melbourne demonstration."
l Dr Mannix, referring to the surveilIlance -of detectives, said he did not see any reason Why he should object to their making themselves foolish. Asked whether he Fad heard a rumour that the ‘ban was to be removed; he lreplied that he had heard of somelone asking a. ‘question in the House of Commons as to Whether he was going [to Ireland merely to see his relatives, *the time had not come to remove the ban; but that question was not authorised by him. He never stated that he was going to Ireland merely to see his relatives If he went to Ireland he meant to go as an ordinary citizen, {with "an ordinary citizens? opportuniktieg and ‘rights. That meant that he would be hound By the law like any 'one else. .
When asked how long he intended to remain in London, Dr Mannix replied emphatically: “Until I go to Ireland. I mean to see this business through.” ' Asked for his opinion on the Resforation of Order_Bill, Dr Mannix said: “It does not help matters, but merely aggravates the position’?
Among Dr Mannix’s caliers since his arrival have been the Archbishop of Hobart and Péfih, and the Bishops of Rockhampton and Sandhurst.
IRISH ‘LANDING BAN.

LONDON. Aug. 12.
A priest bearing atn‘ urgent message from Ireland arrived at Nazareth House. It is believed the message emanated from Dr Mannix’s mother. At a Cork Hzirbour Trust meeting, Mr Haughton, a protestant Imperialist moved condemning the Government for preventing Dr Mangix from visiting his mother and his native land. The resolution was carried.nnanimously.
