GREAT OCEAN ROAD.
VICTORIA'S MEMORIAL TO SOLDIKES. The Great Ocean Road, from Geelong round Cape Otway to Warrnambool, which is to be a memorial to Victorian soldiers, is gradually developing. The formation or' the section lifting up Geekng and Lome—more particularly the six miles between Lome and Big Hill—is proceeding apace. The secretary (Captain E. Morley), who recently inspected tlie work, was surprised at the progress made by the soldiers who are on the contract. They have cleared from Big H :, l Creek past Reedy Creek towards Stoney Creek, to which latter motors may new'be driven from
Lome. On the Geelong side, the road has been repaired to Clark's at Big Bill, and at the rate of progress now being made the trust has high hopes of the road being opened to Lome by Christmas, which will be a boon, because Lome hitherto has been a sort of dead-end with motor'sts and most tourists.
