AN EGYPTIAN BLUEBEARD.
Discovery of the heads of .twenty women in a house in the town of Taut a; 54 miles north-west of Cairo, has ny vealed the existence of an Egyptian ‘Bluebeard, 5 ’ the news of whosQ crimes is stirring the whole country^ This human monster, it appears, eo* ticed women of good family to visit him in his house on the pretext tha| he would introduce them to wealthy admirers, with the view to marriage* None of the women ever came baeS from his house. In inviting the women, “Bluebeard'* urged them to make-themselves as a.(J» tractive as possible and put on thei£ most precious fineries and jewels. Once he had them in his grasp, he took aH these things and murdered the women, burning their bodies, but not the heads* He committed one smh crime weekly until inquiries by sorrowing relatives led to the Tanta murder house, where* upon the criminal fled. He is deserib* ed as a handsome adventurer, with a; flowing beard. He is still at large.
