THAT SCHOOL SUBSIDY.

(To the Editor). Sir, —In a sub-leader in the Taibape Daily Times of the 24th instant mention was made of a subsidy being returned to the Education Department by the Wanganui Education Board, through the inability of the Taihape School Committee to obtain same. On behalf of the late Committee I wish to state that they were not in any way connected with the expenditure of the £57 mentioned, this amount I believe was the proceeds of a school ball held in 1917. and the subsidy for same was applied for by a past committee, who had the expending of the amount mentioned, the credit balance carried forward when the last committee came into office being 14/1 I am, etc., P SWINDELLS. Taihape. 26th July. 1920.
