VALEDICTORY.
A very pleasant evening was spent On Tuesday, when sports and businessmen assembled at the Fire Brigade Hall to bid farewell to Mr C. Lovell, who has been on the staff of the "Taihape Daily Times" for several years, and who is relinquishing the position. The chair was by Mr Sep. Reid. After a long toast was gone through and duly honoured. Mr Reid, on behalf of those present presented the guest of the evening with a set of pipes, expressing the regret which was felt at his departure and wishing him every luck in the future. Mr Lovell in responding feelingly thanked, the donors. Songs and story continued well on till midnight. Luring the evening Messrs Bray, Kelr.nll, Leniban, Olsen, Mortland and Ward made reference to the work done by Mr Lovell during his stay in Taihape.. Mr Lovell. who has been a suppoHer of all things appertaining to the welfare of the town was wished the host of luck and health in his new •position. All agreeing that Taihape's loss will be Patea's gain.
