A RESCUED PIG.
LEADS TO HOSPITAL CASE. What was described as a “regular Donnybrook ’ ’ was the cause of a ease at. the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court recently. Cecil G. Johnston, dealer, of Frankton, sued W., G. G. Watson stockman, of Frankton, for £SO for alleged assault, £3 13/ cost of medical attendance, and £5 for alleged wrongful detention of a pig. The defendant counter-claimed £IOO for alleged assault and trespass. Mr A. E. Webb appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Northcroft for defendant. It was stated that Watson, who was pound-keeper, had as a matter of convenience put 'the pig (which had been impoumledon his (Watson’s) own place instead of the pound. Johnston and an assistant went to Watson's for the pig. and asked for a receipt when Watson said there was 13/ to pay. The receipt was refused, and Johnston said he would take the pig. The Court gave a verdict in favour of the plaintiff for £ls damages for assault. 10/ for the detention of the pig, and £7 8/ costs, while the defendant was non-suited on the counter-claim. £5 beinsr allowed plaintiff’s counsel.
