The New - Zealand representative fotball team played a combined team representing Wainganui, Horowheuua and Manawatu here‘ to-day before 4500 spectators. The weatther was fine and the gl'Qund fairly dry. F The New Zealand reps were superior in every department with the exception of tight. forward work, combined showing to better advantage in this department. The rear division was fast and resourceful, especially in attack. The final score Was:— _New Zealand ». Combined Team O

McLean (2), Donald (2), Badeley (2), Algal‘, Wilséifi, Storey and Steele scored't2-ies. Carroll converted two, O’Bl-ien one, and VVilson kicked a penalty goal. NQTES ON THE GAME.

The tfiangular team played as well as might be expected against their superior opponents, but were outclassed. New Zealand got ten tries, and with 21 capable goal kicker the score would have been nearer the 50 mark.

In the tight work and the line-out the mixed forwards did fairly Well, 'but their backs were solely on the defence.

Storey, O’Brien, and Steele were were the ‘best of the New Zealand backs. There was a good bit of mulling by the men nearer the scl'unl,. but when the ball‘ was held they all ran hard and etraight. Neither of the five-eighths were hstriking, although ‘Badeley improve‘cT in the second half. Brown was a failure behind the pack_

Bellis- was the best forward in the open, Donald was a very attractive x}ving and Jacobs and Duncan were the best of the othe‘i's.

New Zealand appear to have a fair team with severzfl stars in‘ it, but as a combination if does nof compare well with some of the teams in the past. .

Ingham was the best of the home backs, although Ford and McDonald played fair games. - Boswell was outclassed on the wing. Ross showed up on the line-out, whiel Moynihan and Riggs ’pla.yed good games. The latter following up well.
