Madlaine 'll.r.avarse’s previous ofierings have S‘lio‘wn her to be‘ an actress of great emotional power and the present story, “The Rose of the West” was built up t.O give her one of the most interesting as well as most stirring roles that could be devised. It deals with a b:‘ut.a.l FrenchCanadian liiislaanclwho tries to sell his daughter as the price of a rich gofd vein. The battle of the distraught mother "against her hu:<balld offers a theme that. is novel and compelling in its appeal to the sympathies of an audience. In addition to"fl1e ‘aflovve there-< is a. big treat in sore for Town Hall patrons tonight, in the snappy, rapidfire comedy entitled “Be la“ Little Sport,” with Albel"t.REly and Elinor Fair in the leading roles. “Toton”—-Always charming and Winsome, pretty Olive Thomas is seen at her best in the delightful film romance “’l‘o§o11,” a. story of war time in France. David Lane, an artist, secretly marries his model, but ig separated by the duplicity of hislfatrher, and the disgusted mother dies after giv-:ng‘birth to her baby girl "Toton. Brought up as a. boy Totoi taught to steel by Pierre, :2, piekpoeket, but is rescued from her evil assoeinies by Kenneth Ca-rew, Wino !lras- been adopted by Toton’s father. David Lane, who has been unable to have his wife and child. Tlle~'Two full in love, and then comes the war, and Lane’s pictures Tire stolefi by Pierre, who makes use of Toton, till then ignorant of her p_:lrent'?l.ge.
