The military authorities have been instructed from Melbourne to give effect to the Government’s decision to dnport Fathel' Jerger and Dr. Hirschfield. The former was arrested and conveyed to barracks, where he will be confined until a vessel sails.
AUSTRALIAN SHEARING RATES.

Negotiations are in progress between pastoralists and the Australian Workers’ Union in regard to sheafing rates and other xnatters afiecting the pastoral industry. There are prospects of a satisfactory settlement for the whole Commonwealth. Shearers are asking that rates be fixed on the basis of those ruling in Queensland.
