“MERELY A PARTY FIGHT.”
MR. MITCI-lELL’S ATTITUDE.
WELLINGTON, July 3.
The member for Wellington South, Mr G. Mitchell, better known as 001onel Mitchell, made it clear in his speech this :Iftel*noon that he will not vote against the Government on Mr McDonald’s no-confidence -amendment. It Was, -he said, just a. party fight, one of the old pal‘ty‘ fightzé, and he did not propose to take -any part in it at" all.
Mr Edie (Ba-1143(2): Why ark: you speaking, then’?
Mr Mitchell: I hav?"sx. right, J. beliove, to speak just the. same as the
-‘mm. member, and I am not reading now (a hit at thé new member for Bruce who, in contravention ‘of the Standing Orders, read a. great deal of his opening speean). I have no interest in !this Ifio—c.onfir]en*ce motion, and therefore I don’t propose to Vote for it. ~,
The inference ‘is that Mr Mitchell will walk out of the Chaniber when ‘(lie division bell rings.
