OHUTU NOTES.

A euchre party in connection with our Social Club was. held on Friday night, and a very pleasant evening was spent. Mrs Henning winning the ladies’ prize and Mr Hardy the gents. MissACampbell and Mr Minchine securing the booby prizes. At Ohutu siding on Saturday afternoon a man had 8. very narrow escape from a serious accident, if not death. A truck of logs which came by rail for the Box Company was being taken down to the mill, and the break would either n-ot hold or had jumped out of catch, when a man ran and was crossing the line in frontof the truck to get to the brake, when he fell between the rails just in front of the truck, and had it not been for Mr Ashton, foreman "(if the mill, who was standing alongside of the line where the accident happened, catching hold of him and just dragged him clear of the line as the tl'l_lck dashed past, another half second and the truck of logs must have been over him.
