Rearrangemc-nt of appointments to fhe Board of Trade is under consideration, but no annoynizement can be made. In ’the meantime Mr Hally is acfing as Conciliation Comniissiioner as his services were rcquired\to fill the‘ gap caused by the illness of Mr Hal-lé Giles. but his assistance is still avail? able for the Bbmrd when required;
PLUNKET SOCIETY. MONTHLY 1\1l:I]:}TING. The monthly meeting of the above Society was’ held in the nurse’s_l'oonl, Town ‘Hall, on I:‘ridza3,=..,~ July 2nd. Present: Mesda.me'.~_w Loughnan‘ (chair), Gibbs, ~M_cLen§_.an, Hendricks, Thurston, Joblin, Little, and the_§gcretary. Apologies were received from Mesdames Gifford, Eni§s-on, Gardner, Nathan, Matthews, and Hayden. ° The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and correspondence was discussed. ' Nurse Mcßride reported that there are 1148 babies on the books, an increase of nine for the month: Taihape S 3, Mangaweka 19, Hunterville 22, Obakune 24. Visits paid to homes during the month totalled 1-1-7 and 106 visitors Were interviewed at the office. Several of the babies_have been ill, and needing daily attention and treatment, _but are now doing Well.
The following subscriptions and donations have been received:——Mrs Currie 5/, Mrs T. McL-aughlan 10/, Mrs J. Bartosh 5/, Mrs Westney (Nelson) 10/, Mrs Boone 5/, Mrs Fannin 5/, Mrs McLennan 5/, Mrs Gibbs 5/, Mrs McDiarfilid 5/, Dr McDiarmid £1 1/. v SPECIAL MEETING. A special general meeting was held in the Nurse’s room, Town Hall, on Friday” July 2nd. Present:——Mes,dames Loughnan (chair); Gibbs, McLennan, Hendricks, Thurston, Joblin, Little, and the secretary. This meeting was Enlled as the result of a letter received from the secretary, Dunedin branch, asking that Taihape branch be registered in the first instance as a step towards the registration of the New -Zealand So-J ciet_v. This letter, and the papers en-5 closed with it, were read and discussed, a.nd Mrs Longhnan put the following resolution to the meeting:— 1 “That the Royal New Zealand So~. eiety for the Health of Women and Children, Taihape Branch, take steps to sécure incorporation under “The Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.”
This was seconded by Mrs Joblin and carried, and the secretary was instructed to secure the necessary signatures anfl complete the matter.
