LIBERTINE’S DEATH.
VANCOUVER, June 16. New Y»rk has been stirred over the murder of Joseph El well, which the District Attorney, Mr Swann, desscribes as the most mysterious murder for :> generation. The papers aie tilled with, details as they were when Harry Thaw shot Stanford White. El well was a wealthy manufacturer, and probab'y the world's greatest bridge and whist player. He was found dying in his own home after a night's frolic, when he entertained Biola Krauss. whoso divorced husband’s supper party occupied a table near by. The District Attorney said to-day that. El well’s slayer was undoubtedly the brother or father of a girl belonging to a prominent Uexington (Ken tacky) family whom El well seduced. William Barnes. Elwell’s secretary, told the -police that Elwell, who was a bachelor, often entertained women at his home. He had a third floor bedroom specially fitted up for his visitors, and Barnes also said that Elwell was on terms of the utmost intimacy with at least. 50 girls an!d women.
