RETURNED SOLDIERS’ DANCE.
The third of the series of socials and dances under the auspices of the Taihape Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Thursday evening, when about 45 couples attended. The floor was in splendid order, and every other arrangement " jwas perfect. Messrs S, Dunbar,-T. and M. N_ McLaughlan officiated as M’s.C. in their usual capable manner, and the music w r as supplied by Mr S. Dash,, the extras being played by Mr J. Ormond. A feature of the dance was. that encouragement wa s given to those present to learn the steps of a new- dance, the Maxina. Ten couples participated in the dance before supper, and eleven couples participated when the dance was again put on. In future, this dance will constitute part of the programme, and when other dances have been mastered they alsowill be introduced. There are quite a number of new dances which are featured in programmes i n other Towns and it is only right that Taihape dance patrons should have an opportunity to become proficient in the new dances.
