A NEW GREEN DYE.
.SUPPOSED DISCOVERY OF A GERMAN SECRET. After experimenting for two years the British. . DyestuftV Corporation, Ltd., have discovered at their Hudders- : field laboratories the secret of manufacturing alizarine green dye on a commercial scale. A German secret hitherto, alizarine ! cyanide green was discovered at the i works of Messrs Bayer and Co. in IS9O, and was made exclusively by Germany before the war. The exact chemical details for its manufacture were jealously guarded. No information was given to chemical associations or allowed to appear in German technical ' journals. The dye's special characteristics are that when applied to wool, chromed or unehromed, fine green shades are produced which remain "fast." j Since the war woollen manufacturers have been unable to produce varying shades of the fastness of alizarine cyanide green. The dye will be used 1 particularly for tweeds and Indies' dres s goods.
