TAIHAPE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

FOREMAN'S BEPOET. Mr ,J. Jamison, borough foreman, submitted the following- report at the last meeting of the Borough Council: In submitting my report for the past

four weeks I wish to state that the following work has been carried-out: Main, South, Mataroa, and North roads have been repaired, and at present repairs are being carried out to Birch road.

The footpaths in Kaka road, Tui street and Mataroa road are repaired. A section of the nine-inch sewer leading down into Papakai road has been blocked, and about one chain of the sewer has been taken up and relaid. The trouble was due to the willow Toots penetrating the sewer, and 1 would respectfully recommend that as \;oon as time permits, the section of sewer passing through A. J. Joblin 's property be taken up and relaid as this section has been giving a considerable amount of trouble, owing to willow roots penetrating the sewer. I would also recommend that all willow trees along the sewer be destroyed. Owing to trouble in obtaining cement and the continuous wet weather, nothing has been done to the footpaths in the Main street for the past three weeks.

I also report that thirteen trucks of Belmont metal has come to hand and has been discharged into the depot at the Fire Brigade Station, and I have taken an average of the cost of carting from the railway station and dumpin"- it at the depot, which amounts to about 10/- per truck. Now that the drainage is completed in. tth'e Main street, I intern! putting the horse broom over it and giving it a clean up as soon as time permits.

I also report having carried out 'the excavating at the end of the Main street for the stone crusher, on the site arranged by the Committee, and I would respectfully recommend the bank be reinforced with heavy timber in case of slips.

Re Macadam Mixers.—l have gone thoroughly into the matter, and I would respectfully recommend that the Committee erect something of a more temporary nature, as this machine would cost something like £BOO to erect, and would be required only during the macadamising of the Main street.

Be Verandahs in Main street repaired by Jones and McAlister— I have made' an inspection of this work, and would respectfully advise the Committee to have the whole work measured up. as I consider it an overcharge for the work done.
