There is a strong movement afoot among Federal members to utilise the Prince's visit to Canberra on Monday to lay the foundation stone of the Fedoral Parliament House to force the Government's hands over its inaction in transferring the seat of the Federal Parliament from jMelbourne io Canberra. A large section of members who are restive over the shelving of the transfer deputationed Mr Hughes, who explained the money question was the cause of the delay. The Government was committed, to Canberra by his pro-election policy speech. It is estimated that approximately 50,000 attended fhe public reception, including crowds in the vicinity. Admiral Halsey stated he had seen nothing like it in the weidd. There is to be a further increase in the fares between Sydney and London for royal mail steamers. First class passages, which now cost £l3O, are to be £170; second class, which now are £lO5, will be raised to £l2O. MELBOURNE, This Day. Strike prospects are brighter. The restoration of the electrical current for industrial purposes is expected to considerably reduce the unemployed list. Individual employers are adjudicating differences independently, thereby securing exemption from the black list. Negotiations arc commencing with a view to settling the gas dispute. The Chamber of Manufacturers' dispute committee urges the employers to stick out and not use the power supplied by the employers who gave in. The Licensing Board is delicensing twenty-seven additional city and suburban hotels at the end of the current year on the ground they provide insufficient meal accommodation. ADELAIDE, This Day.
