ME.ETING~ OF COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the committee of the Taihapc and District Returned {SOI- - Association was held last night, when there were present: L\lessrs. Norriss (cllair), Hamill, Slll:u't_, McDermott, COl-kill, A. Harris, Thurston, Clcnmnce, McSweeney, W. White, H. Cl-.ll‘k and E. Lenihan.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The delegate to the recent conference (Mr E. Lenihan) reported on the proceedings of the conference.’ with special reference to the remits forwarded by the Taihupe Association. The six remits sent in had been adoptecl‘ by the Conference. The matters dealt with by ihe conference with regard to I‘epß.’C-I‘i{l'[iol'l, land settlement, imnl'lgral"ion, etc., had been dealt with from a national and Imperial point of view, and the efforts of the R.S.A. were bound to be attended by good results.

The intltter oi‘ the proposed memorial to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war was discussed, and the following resolution was carried unanimously: “If is the unanimous opinion of this committee that the proposed memorial should take the form of a monument; and ‘that’ the committee urges ihe Mayor to imnlediately call a public meeting to discuss the pro—posal, and guarantees that the members of the committee will attend the meeting.-.” The nioering terminated witha vote of thanks to the chair.
